X-Factor Season 11, Denmark:
Light Designer Martin Wallin has chosen to use 3 SpotDrive systems for the 11th season of the Danish X-Factor live shows, broadcasted from DR Byen’s Studio 5. Previously the show has used different types of fixtures, modified as a manual controlled follow spot, giving Martin Wallin the chance to apply Gobo’s and Colors as required. This year, using the SpotDrive with the Robe BMFL Blade, the trim of the fixtures can now be raised higher and the presence of a climbing operator is no longer needed. At the same time Martin has full control of the BMFL if required, or the control can be turned over to the operator’s hand.
Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2018, Denmark:
For the Danish Eurovision qualification event, light designer Kasper Lange, chose to use 3 SpotDrive systems for key back light. Not only does the SpotDrive cut down on the weight load in the roof, but it also makes it possible to place a follow spot in narrow places. Bonus is you no longer need climbing operators.
Melodi Festivalen 2018, Sweden:
Swedish Eurovision qualification contest’s light designer Frederik Jönsson has chosen to use 2 SpotDrive systems for this years’ event.
Danish Light Designer, Kasper Christiansen chose to use 4 SpotDrive systems, for the final show of the Danish music production “Gulddreng”. The show took place in the newly built Royal Arena with a maximum capacity of more than 15.000 spectators. The SpotDrives were integrated into the lighting system, so Kasper would have full control of the 4 Robe BMFL Blades except for the Pan and Tilt. SpotDrive operators handled the Iris, Pan and Tilt only.
P3 Guld Sweden:
For the annual award show of Swedish Radio P3, 2 SpotDrive systems were chosen. One was placed in the centre of the venue, being used to light both the main stage and the presenter area at the opposite end of the hall. This would have been next to impossible with a normal follow spot or would have required at least one additional spot.
Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Shanghai:
10 SpotDrive systems were fully integrated to support Madigan Stehly’s light design and assisted the 10 Super Trouper standard follow spots. SpotDrive was chosen by the production because of the ability to work with any type of DMX controlled fixture, giving the designer a free choice of fixture for the task. On this specific show, the Clay Paky Scenius profile was selected. With full production delivered by SoloTech, the show was held in the Mercedes Benz arena in Shanghai in November 2017.
Bruno Mars European Tour:
Light Design by LeRoy Bennett and Cory FitzGerald chose to use 8 SpotDrive systems to support the Bruno Mars European leg of his 24K Magic World Tour. After a demo with Cory in January 2017, evaluating a variety of fixtures and control units, the SpotDrive was picked over other options.
Prolight + Sound 2017:
